What is robotic surgery?

Robotic surgery, also called robot-assisted surgery, is an advanced surgical method that combines minimally invasive surgical techniques with innovative robotic technology.

Dr. Bell uses advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques, like robotic surgery, to improve outcomes for common and complex surgical problems. He uses the da Vinci® surgical system when performing robotic surgery.

The da Vinci surgical system includes robotic arms equipped with a high-definition camera and special surgical instruments that Dr. Bell controls from a computer console in the surgical room.

From the console, Dr. Bell has a magnified view of the surgical site and controls the movement of the robotic arms using a special device that mimics his surgical incisions.
